Aswan/Frankfurt am Main, 24. September 2026 – H World International is driving the expansion of its portfolio in Egypt with the Steigenberger Hotel Elephantine Island Aswan further strengthening its collaboration with Legacy Hospitality Company S.A.E. The property, which was operated under a different brand until April, is currently undergoing a renovation and transformation phase. The opening under its new brand is scheduled for December 2026.

The future five-star hotel will offer 178 rooms, including 15 suites, and will be located in one of the most renowned travel destinations in Upper Egypt. Elephantine Island lies in the Nile opposite Aswan’s riverside promenade and is one of the region’s most historically and culturally significant sites. Aswan is a key stop on many Nile cruises and attracts guests with its history, Nubian culture, river landscapes and landmarks such as the Philae Temple and the Aswan High Dam.

As part of the repositioning, the hotel will be aligned with the standards of the Steigenberger Hotels & Resorts brand and will introduce a boho-luxury concept with Nubian design elements. Plans include redesigned rooms, suites and public areas, as well as a newly curated food and beverage offering featuring an all-day dining restaurant, a specialty restaurant, a lobby lounge, a pool bar and a Nubian Tea & Coffee Corner. The offer will be complemented by meeting and event spaces, a ballroom, spa and fitness areas, as well as spacious pool and outdoor facilities. The island setting and boat access further underline the property’s exclusive resort character.
